Hola everyone,
Okay, I'm trying to get warmed up for doing this blog in 2005. So, I'll start here in the fall of 2004 with some reflections / posts on the One Year Bible readings. Today, we're looking at October 5th's readings.
We're going through Jeremiah - I'd definitely recommend reading the intro to Jeremiah to understand what's going on here. Starting with today's readings may get a bit confusing...
Jeremiah 5:1 today reminds me of Sodom & Gomorrah passages that we read about earlier this year... though this time the bar is pretty low - 1 person!
"If you can find but one person
who deals honestly and seeks the truth,
I will forgive this city."
Colossians readings today - I guess the thing that speaks to me today on this is the last three words we read today in Colossians 2:6 - "overflowing with thankfulness. "
I actually thought about this earlier today - you've heard the saying, "every day above day is a good day." :) But, today, I guess it's fair to say that I was not overflowing with thankfulness... I wish I was! Not just today, but every day...
Are you overflowing with thankfulness?
Psalm 77:14 jumps out at me:
"You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples."
Do you believe this? Have you seen miracles? Have you seen God’s power displayed? Is it possible that you’ve seen miracles, but haven’t recognized they were miracles? Is it possible you’ve seen God’s power, but haven’t recognized it as God’s power? Is life itself a miracle? Could the very air we breathe be an example of God’s power?
Proverbs 24 - a good justice proverb for ya. :)
Feel free to post up comments! Thanks for checking out this blog and more importantly, reading the One Year Bible.
Grace,
Mike
