Father,

I ask your peace in this time of natural disaster. May our reading of the Book of Job help us to make sense of what has happened. May our reading of God’s responses to Job’s questions give us wisdom in addressing those who are lost and confused. Help us to minister hope to a nation and a people subject to the fear of death, people who were caught unawares just like in the days of Noah.

May we remember the Words spoken by Paul,

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.

In the precious and Holy Name of Jesus, Amen.
