Revelation 2:12-17 = the church in Pergamum was located in a center of idol worship and loose morals. Even though they retained their belief in one God, they compromised the doctrine by allowing for practices that were sanctioned by society but not by God. The general consensus of those such as John Walvoord who interpret the prophecy in Revelation is that God is telling the church that if it adheres to doctrine without allowing compromises, Jesus will nourish the church itself just as the Israelites were nourished by God’s manna in the wilderness. In addition, individual Christians in the church who stand fast and do not compromise by committing acts that are not sanctioned by God but are sanctioned by society (such as living together outside of marriage) will be rewarded an additional personal blessing geared only for them. This blessing will be a pure jewel (white stone) and it will be customized for that individual person only (with their name on it) to take the place of the temptations they resist. The actual meaning of the white stone is unknown because it will vary from person to person and will be meaningful only to the person receiving it. This is powerful Scripture!

When I read about the church in Pergamum, I keep feeling like I’m reading about the church and society in the United States today.

God Bless!

I am happy to have finally found a Bible gadget that I can incorporate into my homepage. I am new to igoogle and have having a great experience setting it up. Thanks again .

The late John Walvoord says a mouthful in a new article titled "Pretrib Expert John Walvoord Melts Ice" which I just spotted on Google. You are sure to be amazed by it.
