Deuteronomy 32:44-47 where Moses says to the people, "Take to heart all the words I have given you today. Pass them on as a command to your children so they will obey every word of this law. These instructions are not mere words (idle words)--they are your life! By obeying them you enjoy a long life in the land you are crossing the Jordan River to occupy."
Could it be that Jesus was referencing this passage in Matthew 4:4 when He said, "Man does not live on bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God."

Great teachings to meditate on this Good Friday when 'the bread of life' gave Himself up so freely to give us life now and into eternity.

This is the first time I ever read through the pentateuch! It hasn't been easy to stick through it but I'm glad I did. I definitely feel like this has brought me closer to God. It was interesting to learn about God in the pentateuch. I always had the impression (heard) that the OT God was angry and short-tempered but as I read the pentateuch for myself I was surprised to find a caring, patient God. There was some anger but it was in love. That's the image I will now keep in my heart.
