The Bible has blessed and comforted me in this the most difficult year of my life; my only son was killed in a traffic accident. Many scriptures blessed me, mainly the Psalms, but I also learned of God's steadfastness and His love sustained me. It would have been a more difficult time without the Bible blog--Thank you. Then I followed your advice to continue on the day I could read with you. That helped me in finishing for the year 2010 and 2011.

What strike me most is the promise of God through the old testament fulfilled in the New Testament with the preparation of John the Baptist for the coming of Jesus the Messiah. Reading the Old Testament and the New Testament together with your blog was helpful in my understanding of God's word.

Again many thanks to you and the brothers and sisters who share their experiences in their comments.

Looking forward to read with everybody in 2012.

For the first time in my life, I'm excited to read the next day's reading. I have to stop myself from reading ahead. :-) Thanks Mike for all your hardwork and thanks to everyone who comments. I love hearing how God is impacting lives. God Bless! Looking forward to continuing this reading in 2012!!
Elizabeth commented on 'December 31st One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef0162fecc0f9e970d2011-12-31T20:46:31Z2011-12-31T20:46:31ZElizabethI did not read with you in 2011, but am looking forward to starting the New Year off right! I have challenged my Jail Ministry inmates to begin reading the bible through in the next year and was looking up information to hand out and came across your blogs. I'm not sure if we will do the Chronological or the One Year Plan yet. I am excited. Thank you for your dedication to this blog. Praise God for pouring His Spirit out on all flesh in these latter days. I too would thank Mike for his thoughtful blog and post of music and links. Your research and honesty has made this a meaningful process. I am going to read the Chronological Bible in 2012 and look forward to new perspective on the scripture. The river life image that is in Ezekiel and Revelations and which literally touches almost every book of the bible helped me to realize that this river does not just exist when Jesus returns, but it is the water that we can choose whenever we wish. What did the angel say "Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life." I think sometimes I choose to be thirsty instead of drinking of the river of life. Blessings to everyone in the new year.
Ron commented on 'December 31st One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef01675fbbfbf6970b2011-12-31T16:44:14Z2011-12-31T16:44:14ZRonAlthough I have read the Bible through several times, and am finishing it up again today, I am amazed at...
Although I have read the Bible through several times, and am finishing it up again today, I am amazed at the new things that I read that are new and refreshing to me. I know that I have read or heard all of the word before but I get some new knowlege everythime I read it. Thank you Mike for your hard work. I would like to commit myself to both the OYB and the Chronological Bible in 2012. It needs not only discipline. It also needs prayers.
CARL commented on 'December 31st One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef0162febdc4d5970d2011-12-31T05:03:50Z2011-12-31T05:03:50ZCARLThis is my Second year completing the one year bible through the New Living Translation of the Bible. A year ago I started reading the One Year Bible blog without much hope of finishing, because of the times I'd failed before. Although I skipped out most of Ezekiel because I got really behind at one stage, I got through the rest. YAY!

Knowing that there was a community of readers doing this with me, and being able to interact with you all through comments was a key ingredient for me. Thank you to all who posted.

Mike, thank you so much. Your commitment to this blog is admirable, and your humility is inspiring. I think you must be one of Jesus' heros when I see how many lives you are touching daily through your obedience to Him.

Having read the whole Bible now, I have a much better idea of God as the beginning and the end, God working through history, God unravelling His love-plan and God reaching out to us. I have a much better understanding of Israel and the Jewish nation, and how they are a precious part of the fact that I am a Christian today. Praise You, Lord for drawing near to us. Praise You for The Message.
