Luke 8:4-8:21

I read a commentary that brought out an interesting point on the parable of the seed. Jesus could have easily articulated his words as He spoke to the crowd so effectively that all would have heard what He was saying and understood it, but He didn’t. The reason He didn’t speak effectively and convince the crowd was because He did not want to overpower people’s freewill. Jesus could so easily have made everyone He came in contact with a believer but He never crossed the line of our own freewill. Imagine the power of Jesus which He is holding back until the appointed time when He just lets it all go.

Whoaa! That's true Steve! Well put!
I find it interesting that The lord saved them not for their righteousness but because they were a stubborn people. Why? Because God holds true to his promises. He is a man of his word!! He promised deliverance to the israelites! All the more reason we can't earn our salvation! It's not by our righteousness we are saved but by Gods grace! He will have mercy on whom he wants.
Secondly verse 16 " do not continue to be stiff necked." Doesnt that sound like the woman caught in adultery? "Go and sin no more" . His command was with authority!
Remeber we are all fighting battles, we are in valleys but only God is victorious!

good comments. Yes, sometimes Jesus still lets me learn things on my own even today. Sometimes when the lesson is over however, it wa obvious...I just couldn't see it

Feel very encouraged by the comments.
Thank you brothers and sisters very much!
Mike's memory verse stands out to me:
"For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open." Luke 8:17 NIV
Mike, it's a good reminder that I need to pray that I have no unconfessed sins!
Also, thank you for your reminder "to be engaged in the Bible in some way each and every day." otherwise, perhaps "to those who are not listening, even what they think they have will be taken away from them." (Luke 8:18b)
All such precious reminders!
