For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control; they will be cruel and have no interest in what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act as if they are religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. You must stay away from people like that." These verses teach that we should avoid arrogant and evil people.
Karen MV commented on 'October 24th One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef0240a4e369c2200b2019-10-25T00:24:08Z2019-10-25T00:24:08ZKaren MVPaul’s instruction for a Timothy in relating to people who disagree with him is so applicable to our times as...
Paul’s instruction for a Timothy in relating to people who disagree with him is so applicable to our times as the society is the most divided as I have seen. His assessment of people are lovers of self and money cannot ring any truer. What struck me the most is his warning against believers “ 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power.“ It makes me examine how I pray and not wanting to fall into such category of people Paul told Timothy to avoid.
Angela MV commented on 'October 24th One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef0240a49585b9200c2019-10-24T23:06:20Z2019-10-24T23:06:20ZAngela MV2 Timothy 3 tells us that there will always be people who are unkind, deceitful, money-loving people who deny God's...
2 Timothy 3 tells us that there will always be people who are unkind, deceitful, money-loving people who deny God's power. But Paul tells Timothy that he should not have anything to do with those people. As verse 9 says, their foolishness and ignorance will be obvious to everyone. God will soon reject them and give them what they deserve. We should remember that no matter what, God is always watching and he is in complete control.
Richie MV commented on 'October 24th One Year Bible Readings'tag:typepad.com,2003:6a00d8341c5ebf53ef0240a4955c04200c2019-10-24T14:16:49Z2019-10-24T14:16:49ZRichie MVWe must be peaceful and instruct others and ourselves to be the Lord's servant.
From Jeremiah 45: It's human nature especially in the work world to seek great things for yourself at the sake of stepping on others. I believe the Christian way would be to do things as Christ would do and see that He loves us all the same. Don't things work out smoothly when participants, players, co-workers etc.. see themselves as part of a team working for the good of all rather than their own individual selfish interests.

2 Timothy: Says run from everything that stimulates youthfull lust. This really speaks volumns to some of us from the baby boomer generation, who have learned many or our life's lessons as my dad would say "from the school of hard knocks" No wonder the youth of today have such a struggle, look at who their role models are.

In chapter 3:1-5 the comment made about the youth of today being resentful of other people, parents and authority figures is very obvious to me and quite an eye opener.

Verse 22 says, enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts and pursue faith. Those folks are getter harder and harder to find and most peoples lives are so over booked and busy that they don't have time for others let alone their own families. And the comment that was made about old relationships, I feel that God is still working on those people and I still want to show them Christian love and be an example of Christ to them. If we gave up on them I don't feel that would be right, but I see your point about how they can drag you down to their level and sin.

The Proverbs verse mentions messengers for God. I feel their is a fine line between assoiciating with sinners so we can be good witnesses and give them the message of to stay in our comfort zones with those who call on the Lord with pure hearts. It puts in you in somewhat of a delimma.
